In reply to your letter (A/Conf. A.55585/) of the 2nd instant, I am directed by Mr. Chamberlain to request you to inform Secretary Sir M. White Ridley that he understands that board & lodging will be provided free for Mr. T. Lewis at Holloway Prison while he remains in their custody.
Mr. Chamberlain regrets that no intimation has been received from this Colony as to any pay or allowance to be given to Mr. Lewis, but instructions will be given to make inquiries.
